Lateef A. Bakare, the Managing Director of Nigerian Wire & Cable Plc is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years post qualification experience. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, U.K., the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria etc. He attended Yaba College of Technology and started his accounting career with Messrs Pannel Fitzpatrick & Co. in 1974. He joined Deloitte Haskins & Sells in 1976 and rose to the position of Quality Control Partner and International Service Co-ordinator before his voluntary retirement in March 1991. He was for several years the Director of Consultancy in DH&S Associates Limited and was an International Exchange Visitor in Deloitte Haskins & Sells, Manchester, U.K. from 1979 to June 1980. He lectured Taxation at Bayero University, Kano from 1982 to 1985 to enable the University meet the accreditation requirements of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. Mr. Bakare is on the board of many companies, some of which are quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. A former council member of Kano District Society of ICAN. He is an expert in Turn Around Management and Financial Advisory Services. He was honored as the Outstanding Young Person of Nigeria in 1985.
